"Echo" passed away Friday afternoon, 25th August,
2000. "Echo" was a remarkable dog and I am forever
grateful to Johanna Vos-Butler (Clan-Abby Kennels, New Zealand) for
suggesting back in August 1991 that I take up Sandra Carr's offer to lease
"Echo" for 12 months. Twelve months turned into 2 years
and as luck would have it, when it was time for "Echo" to return
to NZ, Sandra was not in a position to take him back, so the offer to buy
him was made to me, and I grabbed it with wide open arms.
Unfortunately "Echo" took a while to acclimatize,
so never seemed to be in full coat for the major showing season, also at
various times having to have lumps removed from his shoulders, and each
time having to have the surrounding hair shaved, so more time out of the
show ring. He was always competitive in the show ring, winning many
Best In Groups, R/Up In Groups and many other In Group and In Show awards.
He won Best In Show at the 1992 Cattle, Kelpie & Border Collie Club of
Qld. Australia Day Open Show, also Runner-Up In Show at the 1994 Border
Collie Club of Qld Championship Show, but it is in his progeny and
grandprogeny that he will long be remembered.
I am very fortunate to have one of "Echo's"son's
(Ch Khayoz Eternal Echo, a multi BIS winner) and 2 daughters, also two
very exciting grandaughters, Bawntawn Charm N Soul and Bawntawn Soul
Affair.
"Echo" has many progeny and grandprogeny
Australia wide and through out other Countries around the world.
He is the grand-sire of Aust Grand Ch Tullacrest Soul Mate
and Aust. Grand Ch Gremaric All Class to name just a few.
His progeny are also well known for their 'cuddlie
personalities'.
I know Echo will be fondly remembered by many Border Collie
breeders and exhibitors, and will always hold a special place in my heart
and memories. Loved and never forgotten - Rest In Peace my beautiful
boy.
